A Compilation of Recommended Anime Endings by ED Maestro Norimitsu Suzuki

People have different ways of discovering their favorite anime, whether it’s from a ranking list, a popular anime, or a manga adaptation they love.
This time, I’ve gathered some of the most visually demanding ending animations created by “ED maestro,” Norimitsu Suzuki, from the endings he has participated in.

Norimitsu Suzuki’s Career

Born in 1968 in Aichi Prefecture. He is a former member of the anime planning and production company Madhouse. In addition to working as a key animator on various works, he has also contributed as a storyboard artist, director, and animation director.
Here are some of the notable works he has contributed to:

  • 『Revolutionary Girl Utena』(1997)
  • 『Cardcaptor Sakura』(1998-2000)
  • 『Cowboy Bebop』(1998-1999)
  • 『Galaxy Angel』(Entire series)
  • 『Fullmetal Alchemist』(Entire series)
  • 『DEATH NOTE』(2006-2007)
  • 『Soul Eater』(2008-2009)
  • 『My Hero Academia』(from season 2)

It seems that he is often uncredited in the end rolls of the works he participated in. This time, I have referred to information from other websites, so if there are any errors, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

My Favorite ED Animations from Norimitsu Suzuki’s Works

『Fullmetal Alchemist』(2003-2004) Episodes 26-41 ED (Song: Motherland)

This is the third ending from the anime-original 『Fullmetal Alchemist』 that aired from 2003 to 2004.
In the chorus of the song, there is a scene where Winry is rotated 360 degrees from a dog’s perspective—high in animation calories.
It’s also wonderful how Den the dog, while lying on his back, moves his belly playfully.

『Eureka Seven』(2005-2006) Episodes 1-13, 26 ED (Song: Secret Base)

This is one of the most famous ending sequences created by Norimitsu Suzuki.
From beginning to end, the entire sequence is a single long shot that fluidly pans from the characters’ feet.
Even to the untrained eye, it’s clear that it must have been incredibly challenging to create.

『Akagi: Yami ni Oritatta Tensai』(2005-2006) Episodes 14-26 ED (Song: S.T.S.)

This sequence features art reminiscent of traditional Japanese woodblock prints and the children’s book 『Mochi Mochi no Ki』.
Although Norimitsu Suzuki is known for his fluid animation of cute girls, he captures Akagi’s unique charisma with a distinctive atmosphere.

『Chocotto Sister』(2006) ED (Song: Neko Nyan Dance)

The ending animation is more beautiful than the opening and even the main story.
From the subtle movement of the body when getting out of bed to the swaying head and clavicles while brushing teeth, the attention to detail is evident.
The weight shift during the dance scenes is also seamless and lovely.

On a personal note, I once sang the 『Neko Nyan Dance』 at karaoke with my friend O, not realizing how amazing this ending sequence was at the time.
Sorry about that, O.

An original anime by BONES.
Among the ending animations created by Norimitsu Suzuki, this one is especially famous.
Particularly, the scene where the characters emerge from and disappear into special effects for about 10 seconds is incredibly beautiful.

『High School DxD』(Season 1, 2012) ED (Song: STUDY×STUDY)

This anime is based on a light novel.
The pole dancing in this ending was a hot topic, so there are probably many people who have watched the pole dancing animation without watching the main story.
(I’m one of those people.)
Overall, it’s very erotic and fluid, so just watching the ending is highly satisfying.
Among Norimitsu Suzuki’s high-calorie endings, this one is particularly famous.

『Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc』(2018) Episodes 1-12 ED (Song: Jewelry)

Everyone loves Cardcaptor Sakura.
Norimitsu Suzuki’s unique art style brings out the cuteness of Sakura-chan beautifully.
The way her posture, balance, and the extension of her fingers are all perfectly captured makes every character adorable.
It’s also lovely how Sakura-chan and Tomoyo-chan’s differences are conveyed just through their body movements.
And Kero-chan’s wagging tail is simply adorable.
In conclusion: it’s all very cute.

『Godzilla Singular Point』(2021) ED (Song: Aoi)

This is a TV anime adaptation of Godzilla.
There are many new and original elements in this work, which differs significantly from the traditional Godzilla series.

The scene where the camera pans 360 degrees around a character from a computer screen is impressive.
But personally, the scene where a character slightly looks up while their glasses slip after waking up really stands out to me.
Sure, when your glasses are out of place, this might happen, but I’ve never seen this particular movement depicted in anime before.

『Onimai: I’m Now Your Sister!』(2023) ED (Song: Himegoto*Crisisisters)

This anime was produced by Studio Bind to fill the gap between seasons 1 and 2 of 『Mushoku Tensei』.
The quality turned out to be exceptionally high.

The ending is filled with character movements, including a scene where a cat yawns and you can see the inside of its mouth in detail, as well as a pizza with gooey cheese that stretches endlessly.
There are many highly challenging sequences in this ending, and it is one of Norimitsu Suzuki’s most movement-heavy works.
Honestly, I wrote this article because I love this ending.
