Review of a Good Manga “Meteonotes (メテオノーツ)”

Please note that this article is relatively targeted towards a male audience.

Cute Girls × Space in Manga

A manga featuring cute girls and space station in space.
The love for these cute girls is palpable in the artwork!
Yet, the story also portrays hard and realistic aspects.
It’s a great manga, but unfortunately, it has already concluded. However, frankly speaking, the artwork is so good that it’s worth buying just for that alone.

Wonderful Artwork Focused on Cuteness

The main characters are cute girls, drawn very adorably.
While not explicit, there are many fetishistic depictions that are skillfully executed!
If you like this style of art, it’s a must-buy.

Out of the five characters in the front, two are showing their belly buttons!
The clothing ranges from casual hoodies to vertical sweaters to overalls!!
This is clearly his fetish.

Aren’t they cute?
You can feel the confidence of an artist who has been drawing this body type for years.

More Than Just Cute, A Story with Realistic Settings

What’s wonderful about this work is that it doesn’t end as just a COMIC LO for all ages.
It features an interview with astronaut Naoko Yamazaki, who has actually been to the International Space Station (ISS)!
Since the protagonist also stays at the space station, the story includes genuinely realistic elements.

The rocket settings are not made up carelessly but are well-researched and crafted.

I’m not knowledgeable about space, but even a space layman like me can learn and find space interesting through this manga.

A Great Work in an Oversaturated Market

It’s a fantastic work, especially for those (like me) who love this style of art.
The story is enjoyable and well-researched.
It would have been a popular work in a magazine 15 years ago.
Maybe in Dengeki Daioh or perhaps in a Gangan series?

Unfortunately, it concluded in 2021, with the story feeling somewhat unresolved.

The ending was done with love, suggesting the story could continue, rather than being abruptly cut off.
It seems to have been a victim of cancellation, a quiet end without public notice.

Here’s my personal speculation: The current state where such good works cannot continue is not beneficial for manga.

There are several reasons why works end.
First, time is being taken up by other forms of entertainment like YouTube and social media.
Second, the overall level of manga has risen, and lastly, the market is flooded with quick, enjoyable template works.

The rise in the overall quality of manga is excellent.
There are many interesting manga that aren’t widely discussed yet.
However, these numerous interesting works divide the readership, making it difficult for even good manga to gain enough fans to continue.

It would be great if the industry could become exciting enough to attract those currently spending time on YouTube and social media.

Regarding quick, enjoyable template works, I like isekai reincarnation templates too. However, I feel they reduce the number of other general genre works I read.
It’s like they overlap with certain nutrients I want to consume.

But it’s also true that works like Meteor Notes offer nutrients that can only be obtained from such well-crafted stories.
I hope the environment improves so that wonderful works can continue.
