Let’s go meet Doraemon! – The Fujiko F. Fujio Museum / Doraemon Museum
I will introduce the attractions of the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum, famously known as the Doraemon Museum, in Kawasaki City, including the recommended duration of stay and important points to note!
Summary of Attractions
⓪Welcoming you from the moment you arrive at Noborito Sta.
❷Understand the history of Doraemon
❸Limited-time exhibitions and gifts available!
❻Charming character figures! You can take photos together!
❼Museum café is cute and delicious
❽Only available now?! Special short film
According to the official website, it seems that you can walk from Mukōgaoka-Yūen Station in about 15 minutes. However, taking a bus from Noborito Station is recommended.
– Noborito Station (Odakyu Line/Nambu Line)
– About 9 minutes by bus (220 JPY)
There’s also a Doraemon guide signboard, making it easy to understand! The characters around the station will lift your mood!
❶Learn how manga is created
Upon entering the exhibition room, you’ll first learn about the process of creating manga along the wall, with Doraemon explaining through videos! Unfortunately, photography is prohibited in the exhibition room and theater, but there’s a booth at People’s Plaza that introduces the process of drawing manga, so be sure to check it out!
❷Understand the history of Doraemon
In Exhibition Room I, you can learn about the 50-year journey of Doraemon. Doraemon’s appearance has changed over time, and there are clever adaptations in the drawing style to match the target audience. You can see these changes clearly in the original artwork; I took my time carefully looking at these works, and found that I needed about 30-40 minutes for the first booth alone!
❸Limited time only exhibitions and gifts!
When I visited, there was a ‘Fujiko F. Fujio Sci-Fi Short Stories Exhibition’. Alongside the exhibition of Fujio’s works, gifts are sold on the 1st floor shop, so if you have a particular favorite character, make sure to visit for merch!
Personally, my favorite character is the large rabbit that appears in “Hyonhyoro.” Despite appearances, it even hands out threats!
❹Create your own stamp
There’s an area where you can freely choose frames, text, and illustrations to create stamps. Perhaps due to summer vacation, I had to line up for about an hour :/
But it’s fun to think about what stamp to create whilst you wait!

❺Unlimited access to manga
At People’s Plaza, you can read Fujiko F. Fujio’s manga! You can either look at the original artwork in the exibition or read works that you’ve never seen before!
❻Charming character figures! You can take photos together!
You can take photos at the places where Nobita Nobi and his friends often play, such as the Kikori no Izumi (The Woodcutter’s Spring) where the beautiful Big G appears, and also with Pisuke from ‘Nobita’s Dinosaur’.
❼Cute and delicious café menus
There are many café-exclusive menus available, making lunch time fulfilling…
In the summer of 2023, when I ordered from the drinks menu, I received both a regular paper coaster and a plastic coaster ★
There’s only one dining place, so the waiting time was always long from lunch to evening!
At 13:30, the waiting time displayed was 72 minutes…

TIP
After checking in, there’s a QR code on the receipt, so you can use your smartphone to keep track of the waiting time. Once you’re done with the exhibitions on the 2nd floor and move to the 3rd floor, completing the queue process, it’s recommended to explore other areas during the waiting time!

❽Only available now?! Special short film
You can watch it once using the admission ticket! They carefully cut out a special ticket design. This time it was the letter “F,” but there are times when they cut it in the shape of Doraemon’s hand too!
Screening time: Just under 20 minutes
The admission times were also every 20 minutes, so I was able to enter and watch even 5 minutes before the scheduled time.

TIP
The screening content changes irregularly and they also hold events where past movies are screened weekly. So even if you miss it, make sure to frequently check the official website!

■ Screening for Summer 2023 ■
Doraemon and Sci-Fi Short Story: Uchu Kara no Otoshi-dama This is a remake of a story from the Sci-Fi Short Story collection and it’s interesting to read before or after watching the film ★
Conclusion
I had planned to arrive early in the morning and leave early, but I was having so much fun that I didn’t realize it was already 4 PM! There are ticket cases and limited edition gifts, so I’m eager to visit again when the exhibition and theater works change!
For those who love the works of Fujiko F. Fujio, I strongly recommend giving it a visit♪
